Dear parents, students and families,

What....a.....week!

Our Year 4 students conclude their celebration of First Eucharist at this weekend's Saturday night Parish Mass. We pray for, and congratulate, Austin F, Audrey M, Patrick G, Darcy , Haven M, Ben, Joseph, Will and Nathan.

Tomorrow our senior students play Seaford PS away as part of their sporting program. Next week we will play the Lightning Premiership at Mahogany Rise PS and we thank them for hosting this.

On Tuesday, the Fathers' Day Stall was held, and my thanks to the parents who organised and ran this. One of them very bravely told me how much fun it was being with the kids and how excited they all were to be buying something for their special father or 'father figure'.

Our Year 5's attended Monterey SC for a day based around World Traditional Games. This really was an outstanding event and I am very grateful to their Principal, staff and students for inviting us there. One of the kids said "it was their best day ever" so that is hard to argue with as feedback!! The student-lead day was a result of Monterey SC partnering with the 'Creating Chances' organisation. The Creating Chances group worked with the teenagers on their organisation of the day and to develop skills to lead this. The school, and students and staff, must be very proud!

Yesterday was our annual Italian Day Celebration. We again thank Signora Morina and the

P & F for their organisation of the day. It was a really fun day that brings enjoyment to all every year and helps us to celebrate learning in a language other than English.

Last night we began the journey for our 2026 Foundation Class with our Parent Information evening. It made the staff very proud to see our current parents with a sibling commencing next year meeting and welcoming new families at this event. There seemed to be a high level of excitement and I know the staff are always excited as they plan ahead to involve our new families in our community.

Today we had our local MP, Sonya Kilkenny, on-site with the architects and builders responsible for our new build. It was a short celebration to commemorate the commencement of our new senior block. We thank Sonya, and the other guests, for their attendance.

Tomorrow morning is our annual Fathers' Day Celebration morning. We look forward to as many of our Dads or very welcome 'substitutes' joining us for the morning.

Next Monday we have an Indigenous performer- Sean Choolburra - who will be working with classes. Our Marine Ambassadors will be out on Wednesday with Mr Sullivan learning more about keeping our waterways and the bays healthy and on Friday we again have our 2026 Foundation Students and parent/s on site doing a Super Starters afternoon. Our families come from a widespread area and opportunities for the families and incoming students to build connection are very valuable.

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence

Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent by leaving a message on

9786 4736 and press 1. Please give details of your child’s name and class with a reason for their absence such as: unwell, appointment, holiday or family reasons. Alternatively an email can be sent to office@saseaford.catholic.edu.au with cc to the child’s teacher.

If you are running late, (after 9:00 am) please attend the office to sign your child into school.

If you are picking up your child early you will need to collect them and sign them out from the office.

As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:

Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a text message.

If parent does not contact the school after receiving the text message, the school will contact the parent by phone. If the parent is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.

If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.

Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.

This is a legal requirement.
