Year 10 Camp Adventure at Charnwood, Victoria: An Unforgettable Experience
This year, our Year 10 students embarked on an exciting camp adventure in the picturesque mountainous region of Charnwood, Victoria. Over several days, the students immersed themselves in a variety of challenging and fun activities that combined outdoor skills, teamwork, and new experiences.
The camp kicked off with thrilling bike rides through the rugged mountain trails, where students navigated winding paths and soaked in breathtaking views. The fresh mountain air and natural surroundings set the perfect backdrop for the adventure ahead.
One of the highlights was learning to create a fire from scratch. Students worked together to gather materials and build a fire safely. They then put their cooking skills to the test by making traditional damper bread over the open flame—a delicious reward for their hard work.
Archery was another popular activity, giving students a chance to develop focus and precision in a supportive and fun environment. The physical challenge of chopping logs for firewood further tested their strength and teamwork, as everyone contributed to keeping the campfire burning bright.
Evenings were magical as students gathered around the large campfire, roasting marshmallows late into the night. These moments of laughter and storytelling around the fire strengthened friendships and created memories to last a lifetime.
In addition to the outdoor adventures, students took turns making, serving, and cleaning up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This responsibility taught valuable lessons in cooperation, planning, and community living.
The Year 10 camp at Charnwood was much more than just an outdoor getaway—it was a chance for students to push their limits, bond with peers, and embrace the spirit of adventure. We look forward to many more camps that bring our students closer to nature and to each other.
Student reflection on Year 10 Camp
The Year 10 Camp had us trying new activities, such as abseiling, The Markers Shed and bike riding. I particularly enjoyed the abseiling to overcome my fear of heights. Spending time with friends in a different environment was fun. Food was really good, tasting fresh and a variety for all tastebuds. The camp staff were welcoming and encouraged students so well with each activity.
