Careers - Year 9

Year 9 Vocational Explorer

Year 9 students were provided with the opportunity to participate in a one day VET taster program last term.  Students participated in a busy day of activities related to 'Construction Essentials' at Holmesglen TAFE in Chadstone.  

The day began with a safety briefing and induction, students then participated in a series of hands-on workshops throughout the day including:

1. Woodwork - building a phone dock
2. Finishing - sand and stencil
3. Plaster & tiling - measure, lay, tile
4. Bricklaying - decorative pier

The overwhelming feedback from students was positive, with students commenting "the bricklaying was fun", and they enjoyed "making things and taking them home", with bricklaying being one of the most popular workshops of the day.
