Key Updates:

Year 9 Grading Update – Wednesday 24 October

Due to changes in the graduation ceremony schedule, we’ve adjusted the timing for Year 9’s final basketball grading.

After lunch at Oxford Falls, students will return to CBC for their grading session, now planned for 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm.

Please note: depending on when other students depart for Chatswood, the start time may be slightly delayed, and the session could run until 4:00 pm if needed.

A bus will be available to return students to Chatswood at the end of the session, but we encourage families to pick up directly from Oxforfd Falls if possible.

A big thank you to all students and their families for your flexibility and support, we appreciate it!

Team Updates

With final gradings now complete for Years 10 and 8, and Years 7 and 9 wrapping up next week, teams are beginning to be entered into Clipboard. Once the training schedule is posted, you’ll be able to view your son’s allocated team and training times directly in the app.

Additionally:

  • Internal Development Teams will be formed for Years 7 and 8, providing further opportunities for skill development and game experience.

  • There will be no internal teams for Years 9 and 10 this season.

Clipboard Notifications

Important Reminder: To stay up to date each week, please ensure notifications are turned on both on your device and within the Clipboard app. This is the best way to receive timely updates about fixtures, training, and any changes.

Over the holiday break, we will begin posting draft fixtures, which will be confirmed during the week of each game. We’re excited to see the season take shape and appreciate your support in keeping everything running smoothly!

Thank you to all students for your enthusiasm and commitment throughout the grading process. The energy and effort shown so far is a great sign of what’s to come in Term 4.

Basketball Singlet Orders

With Round 0 kicking off on 18 October, now is the time to ensure your son has his basketball singlet ready to go! Singlet sizes have already been submitted to the College Uniform Shop, and families can now begin placing orders.

  • Please be patient as the College Uniform Shop processes these orders.

If you need to purchase a singlet, please do so via the link below. When ordering online, be sure to include your son’s year group in the purchase notes - this helps us avoid any number clashes across teams.

Holiday Basketball Camp

We’re excited to announce our 2-day Holiday Basketball Camp, open to all ages and abilities! Registrations via Clipboard.

MWJCA Round 1 – 2025/26 Season Off to a Bright Start

The MWJCA season is underway, and Round 1 has already brought with it a mix of sunshine, strong performances, and plenty of learning experiences across the St Pius X cricket community. A special thank you to our Team Managers and Game Day Coaches who have taken the time to provide match reports – their reflections highlight not only the skills on display but also the camaraderie and spirit that make Cricket at the College so valuable.

SPX U13 Black – Report by Mrs G Perosin

The U13 Black team enjoyed perfect weather and a spirited start to their campaign. Captain Max Pyle set the tone with his positive leadership, while Robbie bravely took on wicket-keeping duties for the first time and excelled. Batting highlights came from Hugo Perosin, who retired unbeaten on 20 runs, while the opening bowling partnership of Daniel, Sam Pyle, and Theodore kept the opposition under pressure. The day, however, belonged to Miles, who impressed with steady batting, sharp fielding, and a spectacular catch to earn Player of the Match (and a well-deserved bag of lollies). Although the result didn’t go their way, the team’s encouragement and energy showed true SPX spirit.

SPX U14 Red – Report by Mr A Ward

The U14 Red side opened their Division 2 season against Collaroy. Early breakthroughs, including a classy away-swinger from Zac Bunny, put SPX in control as they reduced their opponents to 6/84 after 20 overs. Strong catching and consistent bowling kept momentum, before Collaroy’s tail wagged to push the total to 160. In reply, SPX found runs hard to come by, finishing with 71. Oliver Pemberton anchored the innings with a resilient 40 not out, while Ashton Marks took home Man of the Match honours after a vastly improved bowling spell yielded 2/9. While the win slipped away, the signs of growth and determination were clear.

SPX U15 Yellow – Report by Mr S Callow

The U15 Yellow team kicked off their season with a spirited display against a strong Peninsula outfit fresh from Division 1. Batting first, SPX posted an imposing 4/147 on the back of fluent contributions from Perry, Dunk, and Tully, who all scored over 20 runs. The bowlers stuck to their task, but Peninsula’s heavy hitters edged past the total late in the game. Cameron Cheah stood out with disciplined figures of 1/12 from 4.2 overs, while Fred Gosling was exceptional behind the stumps, conceding just a single bye. Despite the narrow loss, the performance set a strong platform for the season ahead, with Harbord awaiting next week.

Following the success of last years’ event, we are returning to Northbridge GC in October for our annual Ambrose golf outing.

The Committee’s focus this year is to maximise the appeal and to encourage as many parents as possible to join us for a great opportunity to mix with other parents and friends of the school. And, of course, to have fun. We are particularly keen to see more mums participate this year. Pull together a 4 Ball or just join as a single … either way, a great day is guaranteed.

Grading Day

Last Saturday’s Grading Day was held in beautiful weather, and it was fantastic to witness the excellent skills displayed by our senior students. It was also a pleasure to meet many of the young gentlemen and their parents. A sincere thank you to those families who ensured their sons arrived on time.

Illnesses or Non-Attendance

Thank you to the parents who notified me in advance of their child’s absence from Grading Day. I understand that illness can sometimes arise unexpectedly. If your son is unable to attend a game day due to illness, it is expected that you notify his allocated staff member as soon as possible and log the absence via the Clipboard app.

Looking Ahead

Team placements are currently being finalised. Students will be grouped based on their tennis abilities demonstrated on Saturday as well as previous experience to ensure balanced and competitive teams. We appreciate your continued patience and support. Once finalised, I will allocate teams, assign staff, and provide further details.
