DSPS | Glow Up | Part 1.

DSPS is undergoing a well-deserved maintenance Glow Up.
Taking full advantage of the student free day on Wednesday 10 September, we welcomed several tradespeople onsite to complete important maintenance and compliance tasks.
Safe Trees Program | A team of professional arborists attended school to give some trees a haircut.
Playground Audit | Annual compliance inspection of our school playground.
Student Toilets |' 'Deep clean' of student toilets. Continual vandalism by students to bathroom facilities impact the useability and cleanliness of student toilets. Managing the increasing repair costs is challenging with weekly plumber call out fees costing $150 - $350 each occurrence.
"Project Carpet" | Replacing tired, worn carpets.
We have begun a significant carpet refit in the main front building.
On Wednesday 10 September, The Foyer and Specialty Staff Office received new carpet.
Phase 2 of "Project Carpet" begins at 2.31pm on Friday 19 September, when removalists will arrive to help empty 4 classrooms. 1/2K, 1/2 S, 1/2B and Foundation will receive new carpet during the first week of the holidays.
Students will be greeted with fresh carpets when they return from holidays.
The Library | Refresh.
The Library is receiving new carpets and fresh coat of paint.
Our wonderful ES team spent the student free day working together emptying the space in preparation for this long-awaited Glow Up.
Library flooring came up on Wednesday and new carpet was installed on Thursday.
Students were fascinated by the busy-ness of working trades.
Painting will take place this weekend.
The Library is scheduled to reopened on Wednesday 17 September.
But wait! There's more!
A carpenter, painter, plumber, electrician, cleaner, sign writer, and candle stick maker will be onsite over the holidays working on myriads of projects.
- The Great Wall of 3/4M. An internal wall will be built along the hallway to enclose the classroom to improve insulation (sound/warmth) and increase room layout options.
- Replacement Blinds. To Foundation, Office, SLC and 5/6B (Residence building - big windows).
- Replacement Water Bubblers. Old bubblers will be replaced with new troughs and tapware. 2 troughs to the main area, 1 to back of SLC.
- Jubilee Gate signage facing Dana Street will be repaired.
But wait, there’s STILL MORE…
- All Playground artwork will be repainted towards end of Term 4 (install is weather dependent)
Removal of old, vandalized school signage and replaced with clear signage.
These maintenance projects are funded via the Maintenance & Minor Works funds provided by the Department of Education. These funds are allocated each year with the expectation schools will undertake proactive maintenance of their buildings.
More project photos to come after the holidays for those of us who love BEFORE and AFTER Glow Up updates.
