Hello Everyone,

School Holidays – Yard Work

Over the school holidays we will be having our artificial turf replaced on the basketball and pickleball courts, so you may notice people around the school. This turf has been in place for some years and is no longer viable. The sand used to weigh down the turf isn’t being held and has been causing our cleaner a lot more work as it gets walked into classrooms.  It will be exciting to see how the new turf goes with our sports when school returns in October!

We have just had confirmation that the current storage shed near the Foundation Playground will be replaced during the holidays as well. The first part of the work will be the pouring of the new slab, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather is fine! All going well, the new shed will be installed, ready for term 4.

Survey - WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback.

We sent you an invitation to complete the survey via Compass and email on Thursday 29th August.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will remain open online untilFriday 19 September 2025.

The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

If you require assistance in another language, there are survey translation guides available in 29 other languages – ask for one of these at the office.

If you are having trouble accessing the survey at home, there are some iPads available at school for you to use, please ask for one at the office.

Should you have any questions about the survey, please see the office.

Planning Week Next Week – What Parents Need to Know

Next week is Planning Week at our school, and we’d like to let families know that there will be some changes to the usual specialist schedule.

During Planning Week, year level teachers will spend a full day together to collaboratively plan teaching and learning programs for the term ahead. This dedicated time allows teachers to:

  • Review student progress
  • Align curriculum with school priorities
  • Design engaging and purposeful learning experiences
  • Ensure consistency across classes and year levels

To support this important work, students will still attend school as normal, but their specialist timetable may look a little different on the day their teachers are planning. They’ll still be engaged in meaningful learning with our specialist and support staff.

We appreciate your understanding and support as we prioritise high-quality planning to benefit all students.

Foundation 2026 Enrolments – Transition Begins Soon!

Early in Term 4 we will begin our Foundation Transition Program for children starting school in 2026.

Enrolments for Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Deer Park West Primary School are still open! Now is the perfect time to enrol and give your child the best possible start to their school journey.

Starting school is a major milestone, and at Deer Park West Primary School, we are committed to supporting families every step of the way. Our school offers a warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive.

If you have a child starting Foundation in 2026—or know someone who does—please contact our school office to learn more about the enrolment process and collect a transition pack. This can also be accessed through our school website. We’re here to make this transition a positive and exciting experience for every child and family.

Kind regards,
