Belated Father’s Day Wishes

I would like to extend my sincere apologies for not including a Father’s Day message in our last newsletter. Although it’s a little late, I want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible fathers, father figures, and caregivers in our school community.

We hope you had a wonderful Father’s Day, filled with love, appreciation, and special moments with your loved ones. Whether it was a quiet coffee in the morning, a handmade card, or time spent together, we hope the day brought smiles and lasting memories.

Thank you for the guidance, support, and strength you bring—not only to your families but also to our school. Your presence truly makes a difference.

Happy (belated) Father’s Day!

P.S. The children also had a great time selecting just the right gift for their special person at our Father’s Day stall. (Thanks to our Admin staff Kelly and Emma for running the stall.)

Victorian Principals Association Annual Conference

Mr. Fielding, Ms. Scott and I had the pleasure of attending the annual Victorian Principals conference in the city last Thursday and Friday. This is a great opportunity for us to hear from local and international guest speakers and meet with other school leaders across the state. We also get to learn from each other and share ideas that can help us in our own school. One of the interesting speakers we heard from was Gilbert Enoka who shared his leadership experiences.

Guest Speaker Leadership: Performing Under Pressure Gilbert Enoka

He worked as a mental skills coach for the All Blacks, Canterbury Crusaders and several other teams. He strongly believes that players who are mentally prepared will perform better on the day. He also encourages individuals to take ownership of their own direction and to improve their ability to control the many variables that inhibit optimal performance.

This applies to the school context, and it is essential that all stakeholders – students, staff and families all take responsibility for ensuring that students are successful.

Students need to understand how they can help themselves, especially when they get stuck or need to solve a problem eg. use anchor charts and resources in their classroom to help them with their learning or use kind words to explain how they are feeling.

Parents can help by ensuring that they do not rescue their children from consequences of their actions, otherwise they will blame others and not take responsibility for their part.
