Teaching and Learning

From Ms Lehre and Mr Sait P-1
Milo’s Birthday
We had a fantastic whole-school celebration for Milo’s Birthday with a “bring a plate” lunch and lots of fun party games! This was extra special for our Prep/1 class, who had just finished reading Milo’s Birthday Surprise and learning all the letters and their most common sounds.
From Mr Collins 2-6
"You've just sunk my Battleship!"
To make grid referencing a little more enjoyable, the senior students used their referencing skills to play a competitive game of Battleships with a friend. This activity allowed Miss Bell and I to monitor and assist any students who were still having trouble reading grids.
Boy do we love measuring!
In maths over the last few weeks we have been doing a range different measuring tasks. Angles are often quite tricky to get our heads around so this week we triend making a variety of angles using masking tape and then colour coding them depending on how big we think they are. The next step is to use a protractor to measure how many degrees the angles are.
In writing we have been learning about crafting an exciting and meaningful explanation text. The Kids went all the way through the writing process, ultimately producing a published copy that many of them have taken home to show their parents. If you get a chance, have a read.
Hope & Action Day
On Wednesday the Grade 2-6 class ventured into the Gardens of the Future to take part in the Hope & Action Day. This event was focused on sustainability and how we can make small changes in the way we live that will have a big impact on the environment. We were able to rotate around 3 activities help by Coliban Water, Weeroona College, and the Bendigo Council. In between our rotations we visited the Botanic Gardens and enjoyed a very short burst of heavy rain before making our way back to school.
