Principal Update

Melissa Mackenzie

We have reached the end of term on an absolute high. Both the P/1 and the 2-6 Concerts were highlights. The younger students showed such confidence and absolute delight in their singing and dancing- it was infectious. The 2-6 concert was sold out and was a definite showcase of our Performing Arts Program. The STOMP dance group are fantastic and manage in just a few weeks to have every student dancing and proud to be performing. The Year 6 actors were amazing, knowing their parts and performing with confidence and pride. They were certainly highlights for the year.

We celebrated RU Ok? Day last week with activities in classrooms and in the staffroom. Thank you to the SUP Team for coordinating. We also had the Staff Professional Practice Day last Thursday where teachers concentrated on planning for Term 4.

We have had the accessible bathroom at the end of the gym repaired with new ceiling and paint after a burst pipe caused damage during the last holiday break. We have also had the works on the double-storey portable completed to bring that building up to working order after the switchboard malfunctioned. We will have some painters working over the holidays to maintain the Learning Centre in our quest to keep all facilities looking pristine and therefore welcoming and conducive to learning.

We will farewell Martha our 5M teacher as she is heading off on Maternity Leave and we wish her and her partner all the very best with the arrival of her baby. We extend our thanks for all her work with the SRC and in Year 5 this year.

There is a House Event tomorrow where students can wear their house colours. Please see message from the House Captains later in the newsletter.

Lost property is now laying out for you to look for missing items. Any unnamed items will be donated to charity at the end of the term.

A reminder that we finish off the term at 2.30pm this Friday. Assembly will be at 2.00pm in the gym.

I wish you all a safe and restful break and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 6 October ready for another great term at APS!

Kind Regards

Melissa Mackenzie
