SRE and SEE

Scripture and Ethics
NSW schools offer special religious education (SRE) and special education in ethics (SEE) as part of their weekly timetabled activities. Approved providers deliver these sessions, where available.
At Ben Venue Public School, Special Religious Education (SRE) and Special Education in Ethics (SEE) is delivered on Tuesdays from1:55-2:25pm for K-4 students and from 2:30-3:00pmfor Stage 3 students.
On enrolment, parents/carers can choose an SRE/SEE option for your child from Ben Venue's approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics. Update your preference at anytime by emailing the school benvenue-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.

Why Choose Special Religious Education (SRE)?
SRE, better known as scripture, is a great way for your child to learn about faith, values, and how to make good choices. It helps students to think about life’s big questions and teaches kindness, respect, and understanding. Studies show that children in SRE often feel happier, more confident, and more connected to others. It’s a fun and supportive space where they can grow in character and learn important life lessons.
If you’d like to know more, please visit https://www.ayf.org.au/about-sre/ or ask for a brochure from the School office. We’d love to have your child join us! You can opt in to SRE by talking to the office staff.
Volunteers Needed - Primary Ethics
Want to do something life-changing? Why not volunteer as an ethics teacher for Kindergarten or Year 1!
Ethics classes can only be offered to our children if we have volunteer teachers. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents, friends and from the local community, from every walk of life and of all ages, 18 to 80+. Primary Ethics, the approved provider, offers full free training, lesson scripts and ongoing support.
Ethics encourages children to develop their opinions through ethical reasoning and respectful discussion. Ethics helps kids develop confidence and empathy. As a volunteer ethics teacher, you’ll get a lot out of it too.
If you have an hour a week and want to ensure children at your school can access this valuable program, go to: https://primaryethics.com.au/volunteer/ethics-teacher/.
