Parents & Citizens Association

From the President

The Ben Venue Public School P & C would like to welcome all families back to a wonderful place of learning for 2025. We would especially like to welcome new families to our school and hope that you and your children find that BVPS is a friendly and supportive community.

The role of our Parents & Citizens Association is to support our school - its students, families and its teachers and staff. We promote the interests of the school community as a whole and provide a parents’ perspective on issues related to the education of our children.

Our P&C activities are varied and focus on building community spirit, fundraising and providing resources to the school that will enhance learning and wellbeing for all students.

In 2024 we facilitated Stage and Creative Arts BBQs to enable families to meet and mingle and to celebrate their children's successes together. We ran sausage sizzles, hot cross bun and mango drives to raise funds for school improvements and learning opportunities such as leadership excursions and new laptops. The P&C also funded the new mural in the Pebbles Area, giving the play space a new refreshed look.

In 2025 we would like to continue our work in helping to make Ben Venue a great place to be. If you would like to meet new parents, engage with school executive, volunteer your expertise in cooking a snag or making a sandwich, sit on a recruitment panel, make a suggestion or float an idea, please come along to a meeting and see what we are all about.

Our first meeting for 2025 will be on Wednesday 12 February at 6:30 PM. Alternatively, our email address is benvenuepandc@gmail.com, for any queries / questions.

We are active on Facebook - Ben Venue PS Parents & Citizens Association, and often post messages on School Bytes.

Looking forward to a great 2025!

Our new mural

The new mural on the Pebbles, funded by the P&C, was completed over the holidays. The artwork was created by amazing local artists Dave and Narmi Widders, and represents Ben Venue School as a place of learning and community within the Armidale landscape. The circle is our school, with people of all backgrounds coming together to teach and learn. The waves and dots represent the creeks, waterways and waterfalls in our landscape. Kangaroo prints traverse the work – and just like students who come and pass through Ben Venue, kangaroos always leap forward, never backward. The grass trees, which thrive across Anaiwan country, depict strength and resilience. The identity of our school is captured in the use of blues and yellows.

The P & C would like to thank Dave and Narmi for their wonderful artwork. Thanks also to Blake and the team from Haymes Paint who were so helpful in bringing this project to completion.
