LOTE

Lion dance (舞狮  wǔshī) is a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture and other Asian countries in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune. The Lion dance is usually performed during the Chinese New Year. Our Year 6 students performed a lion dance to wish our school and Hampton community a new year full of blessings and success!

Welcome back to the music department in 2025

I would like to officially welcome back Alison Powell to the music department and welcome for the first time Alana Gadsby.

As our school is so large we need 3 staff to cover all the wonderful music classes!

What’s on this term!

Foundation students will start their TRIVICAL dance classes Friday 21st February and these will happen each Friday in the school hall. No special attire is needed but runners are less slippery than school shoes on the wooden floors. Some girls feel more comfortable in bike shorts under their school dress too.

African Drumming and dance will begin February 18th  for year 5 and 6 students.  Drums are provided and we look forward to welcoming BOUBA again to lead the sessions! Check out how much fun we will have here

All students F 1 2 3 4 will attend an incursion in the hall on March 27th by ZIMBOYZ

This amazing acrobatic trio will entertain over 3 concerts during the day. Here is a clip to get us excited!

Year 3 CHOIR

All students will attend choir with me every second week in the music room. These classes are free of charge and are part of the music program here at HPS

Our instrumental program continues this year with the introduction of a new provider JUNIOR ROCKERS who will deliver drum and guitar lessons.

Parents can inquire directly with the company at info@juniorrockers.com

All other enquiries for PIANO VOICE AND STRINGS (violin, viola, cello) can be directed to me – feel free to call into my room to discuss OR send an email if it’s easier!

I’m never too busy to talk all things music!!!
