Circus Fun, teamwork and National Pride

What a FABULOUS start by the students in Performing Arts classes this year! They've shown great focus during our Drama game "Spaghetti" and excellent teamwork during some seriously fun parachute games. My arms were aching by the end of the day but it was so worth it!

One of the foci for Term 1 is to learn the meaning and Auslan signs of the Australian National Anthem. I've been so proud of all students as they actively learned to sign Verse 1 and it's been such a great opportunity to explore Australian history and the meaning behind less familiar words (eg. girt, rejoice, abounds). I look forward to seeing the impact of their deeper understanding of our anthem.

We are also leaping into Circus skills of balancing, juggling and clowning with different equipment and a Circus incursion at the end of February in Performing Arts class. Please complete the event permission on Compass so all students can participate in a 1 hour workshop with Ruccis Circus school.

Is that a playground inside!?

Yes our amazingly creative and resourceful Production Director Gavin Andrew, has sourced a playground as part of the Seussical Jr set and it is currently being installed in the Theatre to join the flying fox, swing ropes, Circus McGurkas trolley and myriad of other set items. Our talented cast have bounced into the rehearsals with enthusiasm and excitement. As the quote goes, "It's the journey not the destination" but I'm pretty sure both aspects will be incredibly rich in skill development, fostering connections between students, celebration of our ACPS parent/family community and the magic of musical theatre. This show is shaping up to be another very memorable childhood experience! Thank you to the Production team (incl parents Erica, Caz, Jacqui, Cam and Gavin) who have prepared and tested set designs and worked over the January curriculum days with our cast.

Looking forward to an exciting and rewardinghe year ahead with you all,
