Foundation Student Assessments – Supporting Learning Growth
Our Foundation students will continue with initial assessments to help guide and inform their learning journey in the classroom. As part of this process, students will complete the Progressive Achievement Tests in Early Years Maths (PAT Early Years Maths). These assessments measure the development of foundational skills across six key areas:
The test is conducted online and includes audio support, allowing students to work independently at their own pace with the use of headphones. These assessments provide valuable insights to support teaching and ensure each child receives the right level of challenge and support in their learning.
Reading Assessments for Grade 3 and Above
Students in Grades 3 and beyond have recently participated in DIBELS reading assessments to help monitor their reading progress and identify areas for support. These assessments include:
🔹 Maze – This assessment measures reading comprehension by asking students to fill in missing words within a passage from a set of provided options. It helps determine how well students understand and interpret what they read.
🔹 ORF (Oral Reading Fluency) – This assessment evaluates how accurately and fluently a student can read a passage aloud. It focuses on decoding skills, reading speed, and overall fluency in connected text.
These assessments provide valuable insights into each child's reading development, ensuring we can tailor learning experiences to support their ongoing growth and success.
