Precious Preps

The year has started with a bang, and our new students at Christway College have settled in wonderfully! We had a fantastic first day of school, welcoming new families and students. Parents were invited into the classroom to capture special moments with their children before they embarked on their first day of learning.

The students enjoyed making craft crowns and getting to know their new classmates. In our second week, we had our first incursion of the year with St John Ambulance. The students learned what to do in an emergency and how to keep themselves and others safe.

In the classroom, our learning is well underway. The students are off to a flying start with our Sounds Write phonics lessons, where they are learning phonemes and practising letter formation. In Mathematics, we are focusing on number basics, including subitising numbers 1-10 and comparing collections to identify more, less, and the same. In Integrated Studies, the students are exploring their own and others’ identities. They created sock puppets using a variety of materials and had fun bringing them to life by giving them names, likes, and dislikes. This activity encouraged creativity and self-expression while helping them understand the uniqueness of themselves and their classmates.

The students are having a blast in Fundamental Movement Skills classes, where they develop their gross motor skills through fun and engaging activities with their Grade 6 buddies. Golden Time has also been a highlight, providing students with opportunities for free play using a variety of toys and activities.

It has been a fantastic start to Term 1, and we look forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing together!

Surprise visit from Spiderman!

Our Prep students had an exciting surprise when the Secondary School Captains Luke Hans and Hannah Pendala stopped by for a special visit - along with a very special guest, Spiderman!

Luke and Hannah took time to get to know our newest Christway College students, playing Duck-Duck-Goose and engaging them in storytelling. The Prep students thoroughly enjoyed connecting with our 2025 leaders and were thrilled by Spiderman’s visit!

A big thank you to Hannah and Luke for welcoming the Prep students and creating such a memorable experience!
