Principal's Report
Dear HPS Community,
Welcome to the end of week 10! One week to go and I think everyone will enjoy a well deserved break and time away from school with friends and family.
Please remember we are not having an assembly on Monday morning, it will be held Friday morning from 9.10am instead
Transition Day
It was remarkable to see how smooth the transition to classes for next year went on Tuesday. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who were well planned and organised to ensure students were supported as they gathered in their new classes. The time together on Tuesday allowed for valuable opportunities for students and teachers to get to know each other and begin to build a foundation for positive working relationships, that can continue to be developed in 2025.
Thank you also needs to go to the students, who demonstrated resilience and confidence as they drew on their growth mind set to enable themselves and their classmates to grow and flourish next year.
We also heard back from lots of excited Year 6s about their transition to secondary school day. Well done everyone!
Year 6 Graduation
Last night was a fabulous culmination of our Year 6 students' time at primary school. A wonderful celebration was held at Viewbank College to acknowledge students, their teachers and their family.
Our school captains presented heartfelt and meaningful speeches, reflecting on their time as school captains this year.
The photo montage always pulls on heart strings as each child is shown from first beginning school to now and definitely highlights how much they have grown during that time.
The dance was expertly danced by the students, who all showed excitement and happiness on their faces throughout the whole thing.
Congratulations to the following students who received awards; your commitment and dedication throughout your primary schooling has been exemplary.
-Lilly Mainzer Visual Art Award- Tomas A
-Peter Ruff Sport award- Aoife M
-Allan Pollard ASPIRE Award- April S
-School Council Academic Excellence- Jonathan H
-Civics & citizenship- Aanya R
We wish to thank the parent committee and staff who contributed to create gift bags for each Year 6 student and decorate the venue. The balloon garlands were a big hit for photos with friends and family. I am sure the graduates were grateful and appreciative of all your work and contributions. We also thank the parents who helped with set up and pack up the event. The phrase, many hands make light work was certainly on show!
FYI re BYOD
I have had a few parents ask recently so thought I'd ensure everyone is aware. HPS have been phasing out the Bring Your Own Device initiative for the past few years. Students are not required to bring an iPad or similar device to school from home. School will provide and cater to technologies needs and requirements to support students learning through own school based devices.
