LEARNING SNAPSHOT OF THE VISUAL ARTS
Across both of our beautiful campuses, Visual Arts classrooms are buzzing with a purposeful and positive atmosphere. We were delighted to receive over 40 applications for Visual Arts Captain roles and together, we are carefully reviewing each one. The quality of each application has been outstanding across all year levels, and we look forward to announcing your 2025 Visual Arts Captains soon. In the meantime, please enjoy a snapshot of some works-in-progress from Years 7, 10 and 11.
YEAR 7 ART
Year 7 students explore relief-printing and acrylic painting in their semester-long study of Art, gaining hands-on experience with the associated materials and techniques. Miss Simpson’s 7K class are about to begin the carving process for their lino-prints inspired by native flora and fauna. Students are invited to add a touch of humour to their designs, and we think Isla O’Ryan’s cheerful planning sketch is a really clever and relatable solution!
YEAR 10 ART
Ms Garcia’s Year 10 Art students have completed a series of activities to experiment with different media - graphite pencils, charcoal, or oil pastels - during the past weeks. Here are some vibrant still-life drawings in oil pastels and coloured paper.
YEAR 11 ART CREATIVE PRACTICE
The Units 1/2 Art Creative Practice students in Ms Ferre and Mr Muir’s classes have been diving into the world of dry point etching as part of their artistic journey. Students carve into a plate to create striking, detailed designs, exploring the unique textures and expressive qualities of this printmaking technique. This hands-on process allows them to experiment with light and dark contrasts, giving each print a distinct character.
