Italian Poetry Competition
On Thursday, 28th November, sixteen excited students from Grades 5 and 6 participated in the Thornbury High Italian Poetry Competition. Over 40 students auditioned to represent Preston Primary at the event, with some even auditioning twice! After much deliberation, 16 students were shortlisted, making the selection process incredibly challenging due to the immense talent on display.
On the day of the competition, we travelled to Thornbury High, where we were warmly welcomed by students studying Italian. These students had also written poems for the competition as part of their language program. The shortlisted students were tasked with reciting a poem they had learned in front of an audience that included an Italian teacher and a panel of Thornbury High students. It was wonderful to see former Preston Primary students, who had continued their Italian studies, now serving as judges for the competition.
Preston Primary proudly won several awards:
Makayla A 5AA - Certificato di Distinto (Certificate of Distinction)
Madeline A 5AA - Attrice del futuro (Actress of the Future)
