Wellbeing - about Kalinda Crews

Welcome back!

I hope everyone had a relaxing break and found some time to unwind. We are thrilled to kick off the 2025 Kalinda Crews program next Wednesday. It’s an exciting opportunity to get our students working together, building connections, and most importantly, having fun.

Designed to cultivate relationships among students and staff in an enjoyable and non-threatening setting, Kalinda Crews brings together students from all year levels in vertical groups, each led by a dedicated teacher and supported by Grade 6 student leaders. This initiative is driven by the recognition of the significance of students forming connections with a broader range of peers and teachers, enriching their school experience beyond their immediate classrooms.

Meeting once a fortnight, Kalinda Crews sessions on Wednesday afternoons (during non-assembly weeks) offer a platform for engaging in fun activities while embodying the values of the Play is the Way program:

  • Treat Others As You Would Like to be Treated
  • Be Brave - Participate to Progress
  • Pursue your Personal Best No Matter Who You Work With
  • Have Reasons for the Things You Say and Do, and
  • It Takes Great Strength to be Sensible.

Next Wednesday marks an especially exciting day for all our students, but particularly for our Grade 5 and 6s. These students have had the pleasure of participating in Crews for the past couple of years and are now eagerly awaiting the opportunity to become leaders themselves. For our Grade 5s, when our Foundation students start attending on Wednesdays is the exciting day they get to be the big buddies! They’ll collect their buddy and walk them to the Crew they share. For our Grade 6s, it’s their chance to step up as leaders, taking the reins and guiding the crew for the year.

We can’t wait to see what fun and meaningful experiences the 2025 Kalinda Crews will bring! Stay tuned to see all the exciting moments ahead.
