What is happening around the school
The Foundation students have enjoyed their first few days at school by: playing, drawing, writing letters of the alphabet, singing with Mrs Butler (Performing Arts) and patting Mrs Hopkins' (Assistant Principal) dog Roxie when she visits. They have also talked about the Play is the Way Golden Rule 'Treat others as you would like them to treat you.'

Grade 1 & 2 Library Sessions – Starting Week 3!
We are excited to welcome our Grade 1 and 2 students to their weekly 45-minute library sessions, beginning Monday of Week 3. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their love of reading and explore the fantastic range of books available in our school library.
Each session includes:
📖 Read Aloud – Students will begin with a story read by their classroom teacher.
📚 Returning & Borrowing Books – Students will return their previously borrowed books and select new ones to take home.
📖 Independent Reading & Exploration – Time to enjoy books independently and explore both the fiction and non-fiction sections of the library.
To ensure students can borrow books each week, please remember to bring name-labeled library bags on your child’s library day!

Level 1 and 2 Teachers
In 3/4 we are starting the year off by remembering our love for reading. Research shows that many children stop reading for leisure around the age of 9 years old. In 3/4, we want to kick start the year by encouraging the students to read at home at least 3 times a week for 20 minutes.
During our school day we participate in lots of different ways of reading. Here are just a few...
That’s right – in 3/4 we LOVE reading!!!
We are so lucky to have Kelly taking care of 3/4 ‘Cooking and Gardening’ again this year. We kicked it off this week with time in the garden, learning about what has been busy growing over the holidays and jobs we might be doing in the coming weeks. We LOVED it!
Art room news
Exciting things are happening in the Art Room to start off the year!
We will be doing a whole school Yayoi Kusama unit, and I know lots of us have seen this exhibition at the NGV. We will be making both two- and three-dimensional artworks and using lots of different materials to create these masterpieces.
To help facilitate this program could our families please save the following items if you have them? The Gr 1s will be using glass marbles for a painting background, Gr 3/4s need empty, cleaned 600ml (or similar) plastic bottles – and their lids, and the Gr 5/6s will be using shoe boxes as a frame for an upcoming “assemblage” artwork.
