Principal's Message
Term 4 - Week 10
It was lovely to introduce Claudia, Mrs Rushton to the students at Monday's assembly and take her on a tour of our wonderful school. Mrs Rushton met staff, visited for the leadership speeches on Tuesday and attended the Bazaar parent meeting organised by Luke Nielson.
On Monday evening, we held our Year Six Graduation at the Round Theatre and it was such a special, memorable night celebrating the incredible achievements of our students. This important occasion was a great opportunity for families to come together and for students to showcase all they have learnt and accomplished whilst at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School. A highlight for many students was the photobooth, kindly donated by James Nguyen's family as well as the ‘Memory Lane’ video with photos from their journey throughout primary school. A huge thank you to Erin Dawson and the 5/6 staff for their organisation and preparation for the event. Also a special thank you to Rahima, Jane and Lou for their ongoing support and to Sarah and Tegan for their tech support to make the night run smoothly.
Our Celebration Day on Thursday was an excellent addition to the festivities with a beautiful morning tea provided by our Year Five families. We are so grateful for the involvement and contributions from all! We then enjoyed some competitive games of bowling and laser tag and embraced the quality time together.
We are looking forward to our final celebrations at the end of year Assembly on Friday afternoon.
Congratulations to all the students that applied and presented their speeches for School Captain and SRC Presidents. To have so many students apply shows the high regard that students hold the leadership positions. Students voted to shortlist and then interviews were conducted with the current leaders. Congratulations to our School Captains for 2025 and the SRC Presidents. A huge thank you to our candidates that missed out but they will have opportunities for leadership next year.
Senior Choir had our annual Christmas performance at Forest Hill Community Space - always a highlight for the students. This year, we also had the additional privilege of performing in an open section of the Shopping Centre near Terry White ChemMart and we drew a huge crowd! The students performed with enthusiasm and joy and we received feedback from Forest Hill Chase Centre Management:
"Just wanted to thank you and your school choir for coming and performing at our centre today. It was delightful and brought a wonderful energy to the shopping centre. The customers and retailers have made come lovely comments to our Customer Service Desk about the joy it brought them."
A huge thank you to Sarah Cullen for organising the technical side of our performance and being an ongoing support. Another big thank you to our fantastic parent helpers who attended with us and to those who were able to attend as audience members. It was a great experience for the students and community.

On Wednesday, our Year 3, 4, and 5 students had the exciting opportunity to walk to Forest Hill Chase, where they enjoyed the highly anticipated Moana 2 movie. It was a truly delightful experience for all, as students were able to relax with a box of popcorn and immerse themselves in the film, surrounded by their friends. The day was filled with fun and laughter, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

Mount Pleasant Road Primary School’s Step Up Transition Program is designed to help students connect with their peers and teachers for the upcoming 2025 school year. This program offers a fantastic opportunity for students to build relationships and experience what school life will be like in 2025.
The Step Up Transition Program offers numerous advantages to support students as they transition to their new classes. By engaging in this program, students can:
The Step Up Transition Program complements our Transition to School initiative, which included Foundation orientation sessions earlier this term, as well as our Step Up to Secondary Program specifically designed for Year Six students. This program features a high-school style timetable that emphasises time and self-management skills.
Furthermore, the Step Up Transition Program allows teachers to gain valuable insights into their incoming students, fostering relationships and establishing routines and expectations. This foundation will enable them to create engaging lessons for Term One that capture students’ interests and support their learning journeys.
Through the Step Up Transition Program and the accompanying Step Up to Secondary Program, we aim to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary for a smooth transition into 2025.
