It has been wonderful to watch so many smiling faces walking through the gates each morning. The children all seem very happy to be back with their friends, sharing what has happened over the last few months and enjoying getting to know their new teachers and class mates.
We especially welcome our new families to McAuley and look forward to having you as part of our community. Over the next few weeks parent grade reps will be assigned and you will be sent a link to their parent run Facebook pages. You do not have to join these but these are handy groups to belong to in case you forget what uniform day it is/ lose an item (reminder here to please label everything) to organise play dates and just to make new friends.
For those new to McAuley my name is Shannon Cain and I will be Acting Assistant Principal for 2025. Mrs Robyn Petty has taken a well-deserved year of long service leave to travel, read, relax and spend time with her family and friends. We wish Robyn all the best on her year of leave and look forward to her returning in 2026.
Each week at McAuley there is a newsletter sent home via Compass for your perusal. Every odd week is a Student Newsletter. This newsletter is designed to show you what is happening in your child's classroom. You will see pictures and read stories/tidbits from the classroom teachers about the daily life in their classrooms and what they're learning about. Please use these pictures to create discussion about what is happening within the classrooms because if your kids are anything like mine when you ask them what they're learning about or what they did today they will say "nothing". These conversations are a great way to assist your child's learning by building interest, exploring new vocabulary and getting the whole family involved in their learning. It also gives you something interesting to talk about around the dinner table!
Each even week is anInformative Newsletter. This newsletter is designed to inform you of what is happening in the school currently and in the future. This is our main way of keeping you informed. If you would like to ensure you know 'what's happening when' then please ensure you read this newsletter.
We use the newsletter to disseminate information to ensure that only current enrolled parents are privy to specific times and dates of events. Please do not rely on Facebook for reminders on important Masses/Liturgies and school events.
If you have concerns throughout the year we ask that your first point of call is to contact your child's teacher. We encourage you to ask for a phone call or meeting through the front office. They will arrange a time to meet/call.
We encourage you to respect the class teacher by not approaching them on morning entry and/or afternoon exit duty as their responsibility at that time is to ensure all students are safe.
If, after meeting with your classroom teacher, you still have concerns you are encouraged to seek assistance from the Diverse Learning Team and/or Assistant Principal. These appointments need to be made via the front office. If after meeting with these teams you are still concerned you will be able to make an appointment with the Principal (Jo Flynn), to discuss your serious concerns.
