Guided by Faith, Inspired by Hope, Committed to Learning
Welcome to the 2025 school year. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and were able to spend time together at this special time of the year. The theme for Catholic Schools Week is Guided by Faith, Inspired by Hope, Committed to Learning . I think that Catherine McAuley should adopt this as their mantra for 2025.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Meet-the-Teacher and Welcome BBQ
It was good to see so many of you come in to meet your children's teachers and to join us
for a sausage and a chat. I hope some of our new families made some connections with other parents in the community. I enjoyed seeing so many of the community together again.
Attendance Matters
Chronic absenteeism - missing 10% or more of the school year - is a growing crisis that negatively affects academic, social and economic outcomes.
What are my legal responsibilities as a parent?
Education in New South Wales is compulsory for all children between the ages of six years and below the minimum school leaving age. The Education Act 1990 requires that parents ensure their children of compulsory school age are enrolled at, and regularly attend school, or, are registered with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority for homeschooling. Once enrolled, children are required to attend school each day it is open for students.
What if my child has to be away from school?
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for
student absences may include:
On these occasions the parent MUST inform the school as the the reason for the absence. This can be done by entering a note on COMPASS. If you are unsure how to do this, or you do not have access to COMPASS please see the Administration staff and they will assist you.
If a student is late for school, this needs to be recorded. Parents are to accompany the student to the school office to sign them in and to give a reason for their lateness.
Notice from the Australian Federal Police
The AFP has issued a media release reminding parents to be cautious about posting back-to-school photos of their children online. Follow the link below to find out about appropriate privacy settings, ensuring your child’s uniform logo is hidden and you’re not giving away your address or location:
