Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,
Week 3 already!
It’s been a wonderful start to the year with students having engaged in a Return to School Program at Years 9 and 10 on their first day in Week 1.
In Week 2, students successfully completed their first full week of classes. I thank all our students and families for ensuring student preparedness for the year.
Many students are already settling into routines, engaging in learning, and making the most of the opportunities at Lalor Secondary College.
As we move forward, it’s important that we maintain our high expectations, particularly around uniform, punctuality and readiness to learn. You will have seen my previous communications on Compass, and I appreciate your ongoing support in ensuring students are following the guidance below.
Uniform
- Full college uniform must be worn daily.
- School shoes must have a heel (affordable options available).
- One clear facial piercing only – any other must be removed.
- No excessive jewellery, long/artificial nails, or unnatural hair colours.
- Non-uniform items will be stored for collection at the end of the day.
- If you need financial assistance, pleasecontact the college so that we can provide information regarding the $400 School Saving Bonus, which can be used at our uniform shop and to purchase textbooks.
- 🔗 School Saving Bonus.
Attendance & Punctuality
- Being on time matters – students will receive a warning after six late arrivals before consequences apply.
- Parents receive text/email notifications if their child is late.
- Medical appointments must have a supporting certificate to be excused.
Health & Safety: Vape Detectors & Toilets
- Vaping is strictly prohibited. Vape detectors are installed, and repeated infractions will have consequences.
- Students must use designated year-level toilets and carry their ID card.
Mobile Phones & Laptops
- Phones must stay in lockers from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
- First-time confiscations: Students can collect at the end of the day.
- Repeat confiscations: parents must collect the phone between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm.
- Laptops must be fully charged and brought daily—students are responsible for the device loaned from the college.
Car Parking & Drop-off Safety
- Do not enter staff car parks for drop-offs or pick-ups.
- This is dangerous for students and denies access to parents and visitors who need to access the college.
- Automatic gates on timers will be installed this term, and you risk being locked inside the college when the gates lock automatically.
All the above information has been communicated via Compass News Feed Posts, is available on our website and has been communicated to students not only at the start of the year but consistently throughout their time at the college.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we create a respectful and thriving learning community that is routine and predictable for our students, allowing them to focus on achieving their best.
Warm regards,
Jules Ryan
Assistant Principal
