Swimming for Junior classes

As part of our school Physical Education Program, students in Foundation, Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3 will have the opportunity to attend a 5 day swimming program at Paul Sadler Swimland at Yarra Valley Grammar School. The swimming program will take place from Monday 11th December to Friday 15th December. Students will be required to bring to school each day:

  • Bathers
  • Towel
  • Goggles (if they wear them)
  • Slides or thongs (to change into right before they leave)
  • Plastic bag

Students will be picked up from Kalinda PS and taken to Yarra Valley Grammar School by seat-belted buses. Important Information About Parent Helpers: Parents are VERY welcome to come and assist us with the organisation of the students at swimming however you must have a current Working With Children’s Check on file at the office and can only attend after having this confirmed with the classroom teacher.

What you can do to help during swimming week

  • Repack bags, every night so nothing is forgotten- great practise for the students
  • Label everything ( - they all look the same.)
  • Plastic bags are your friend to stop wet school bags
  • Lots of snacks, lots of drinks and lots of patience - this is very tiring work.
  • Practise buttons, getting dressed and putting things away. This is a great skill also
  • Swimming googles can make or break a swimming lesson. Please pack them every day, if they are needed.
  • If it is precious, loved or new, don't bring it.
  • Check times of lessons before ordering lunch orders
