Kinder/1
Religion
In recent weeks, the K/1 group has been engaged in the exploration of stories from the New Testament that illustrate God's forgiveness. God has bestowed upon us the gift of freedom to make choices, and it is our responsibility to exercise this gift wisely. Jesus employed parables as a means to convey this message, and among them, "The Lost Son" and "The Lost Coin" serve as compelling examples. In these lessons, the children creatively employ playdough to reenact the narrative of Zacchaeus, wherein Jesus extended forgiveness to a tax collector, thereby exemplifying God's forgiveness to the people of Jericho.

Visual Arts
On Monday, the K/1 group took a leisurely stroll to Artists on Parade to visit the exhibition featuring the works of Tumut artist Jennifer Forster, titled "Where The Birds Sing." The children were truly captivated by her vibrant paintings and were inspired to create their own unique interpretations of her artwork. The exhibition showcased a variety of stunning local bird species, such as lorikeets, wrens, and egrets, adding to the overall experience. The children were so impressed by the work of Jennifer's birds that they closed their eyes and imagined they were in the painting, listening to the birds at sunset, in the way Katie from the book ‘Katie and the Starry Night’ may have done (if Mrs Maher had fallen asleep as the grandmother does). A few children mentioned they had hoped to see some of Van Gogh’s artworks but were not disappointed. Art galleries are fascinating places to visit with your children and are usually free to browse. Whether it’s Tumba, Wagga or Canberra, find one nearby during the holidays!

League Tag Gala Day
Our League Tag Gala Day was an especially fun part of this week. We were put in teams of 6 or 7 to play teams from Tumbarumba Public School. We played 4 games each in a round-robin format. The weather was stunning and the NRL development officers had the day really well-organised and were generous with prizes and awards. Tumba High School students coached, refereed and cooked the BBQ for us.
Fletcher: “It was amazing because I scored 5 tries.”
Zoe: “It was good because I loved the pink tags and I got to watch my friends. I had a run with the ball.”
Joe: “I liked when we were dancing and I got a Roosters pencil case.”
