Assistant Principal's Page

from Julie's Desk

Happy R U Ok day and end of Term 3.  The sun is shining and I hope everyone is looking forward to the upcoming break.  Although today we specifically focus on checking in with family, friends, colleagues and community members, I emailed our staff this morning to reflect that ‘checking in’ is not just a yearly event, but a daily way of being.  I reflected that I am so privileged to be in a workplace that fosters the daily practice of checking in with colleagues, students and parents/carers.

Thanks Cheyenne, the Wellbeing Captains, School Captains and Helping Hands crew who have facilitated R U Ok activities since last week. Students have been painting rocks and exploring emotions at recesses in the Wellbeing Play space. These rocks will be mounted in the area in the coming weeks, as a reminder of the importance of kindness and compassion towards others who sometimes don’t feel ‘ok’.

Students wore a splash of yellow to show their commitment to R U Ok and their gold coin donations raised $662, which will be donated to the R U Ok organisation, to continue their great work - well done everyone, great effort!

Staff highlight

Did you know that Cassie, from OSHC rides horses competitively?  She recently competed in the 2023 Equissage Victorian AOR (Amateur Owner Rider) Championships and won:

Congratulations Cassie. Will we be seeing you in the Olympic Games anytime soon???

Support

Did you know that our school has been participating in a pilot project this term and will continue next term?  We have a worker from FVREE, visiting our school once a week.  If you wish to make a very confidential appointment, please contact me, Julie Reid, directly for more information.

Be vigilant

This week I logged onto a webinar to learn more about new Affirmative Consent Laws, Cyber Bullying and Sexting.  As we embark on two weeks of school holidays, please be vigilant with your monitoring of the online platforms that your children are on. Please remember that most social media platforms are 13+.  For more information, please visit the eSafety Commissioner website or REACHOUT.

Support over the break

Please reach out to any of the below organisations if you need support for you or your child over the break.  See you in Term 4 and remember to pack the hats into school bags.

Until Term 4,

Julie Reid, On behalf of the Assistant Principal Team
