PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS CATHERINE HOWISON - ACTING PRINCIPAL

As we reach the end of this term, we can all be proud of the remarkable achievements and progress made by our students and of the hard work of our staff at St Mary MacKillop College. It has been a term filled with learning opportunities, personal and academic growth, fun, creative endeavours, sporting achievements,  and memorable experiences. We have witnessed wonderful contributions by our students to our community. At our Formal Assembly 81 students received Commendations. To receive a Commendation students must be nominated for demonstrating our school values, pursuing academic excellence and diligence, contributing to our wider community or having been recognised for their contribution and success in sporting teams or individual pursuits. I felt a great sense of pride when announcing these Commendations and they were very favourably received by our students. Congratulations to the students who have been awarded a Commendation this term.

For the last four weeks our Principal Ms Michelle Haeusler has been on very well deserved Enrichment Leave. We trust that this period of time has been one of reflection, learning and adventure as well as providing her with some overdue rest and relaxation. We look forward to her return at the beginning of Term 4.

I want to express my gratitude to our dedicated staff, who consistently provide a quality teaching and learning environment for our students, whether this be in the classroom, through co-curricular activities, through IT and admin support or through the management of our school grounds and resources. St Mary MacKillop College is blessed to have such committed staff.

I hope our students have enjoyed Term 3 and are proud of their efforts. We know our Year 12 students in particular are conscious that there is still some hard work ahead and we wish them well as they approach their final term of secondary school. I hope that they might take heed of Mary MacKillop's words -  “work on with constancy and courage”.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable break.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another term filled with learning and growth.
