YAY! IT’S ALMOST HERE! 

 

La Fête à Fitzroy

FREE ENTRY! ALL WELCOME! 

 

FREE ICE-CREAM AND POPCORN FOR OUR FPS STUDENTS! 

 

  • We are very excited to announce that our FPS students will all receive a wristband next Friday (the day before the fete) to wear on the day so that they can claim their FREE ice-cream and popcorn! Particular thanks to Frosty Boy for donating all the ice-cream and Nelson Alexander for the popcorn machine! 

 

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT! 

 

  • Our FPS students will be performing TWICE at the Fete!  Once as part of the Cultural Infusion workshops and once with performing arts teacher Bree! 
  • The Paper Jellyfish, a band featuring FPS’ Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader, Alex Hingston and Performing Arts Teacher Bree McKernan and Gautier’s dad, James Slattery will be having their debut performance! 
  • We are also lucky to have professional musician and parent Timothy Willis to perform for us! 
  • Sacha`s & Elizabeth mum’s Manou will also singing with choir group Beyond the Bathroom
  • We are also super excited to announce that 8 piece Congolese Ruba/Soukous band, The Seben Brothers, will be getting everyone up and dancing!  Check out this little clip of them playing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tC5I6UPxkc

ACTIVITIES AND GAMES! 

 

  • Anthony Panel from the French Circus School will be offering 2 x 1 hour FREE kids circus workshops from 1:30 to 2:30pm, 2:30 to 3:30pm 
  • There will be two professional Facepainters available from 12pm to 4pm! 
  • Elodie Piquet (Noe’s mum and now teacher assistant) and Aya (former student) will be setting up a photobooth from 12pm to 4pm for all to enjoy! 
  • Almost French Early Learning Centre will be running a craft station from 12pm to 4pm ! 
  • Bunnings Collingwood will be offering planting activities from 12pm to 4pm! 
  • Fitzroy Library will be setting up a reading nock and badge making corner from 12pm to 4pm! 

 

MARKET AND FOOD STALLS 

  • At the Fete, you’ll be able to trawl our parent run market stalls, including a second hand treasures stall, a jewellery and craft stall, a bake stall, French Boulangerie, crepe stall, African Feast stall, sausage sizzle, lemonade stall, ice-cream stand and popcorn stall! 
  • We are very excited to have local businesses, Frencheese and La Louche Creperie offer a raclette, galette and crepe stalls, a coffee cart from Awa Café and Language International Book stall. Check out the French Connection part of the school newsletter for what galette and raclettes are! 

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!  SIGNUP SHEET! 

  • The FPS Fete Committee really need YOUR help to make the fete run as smoothly as possible!   Whether it’s to help us set up, help run a stall or pack up, whether it’s for one hour or 4 hours, please sign up here: https://volunteersignup.org/AD4EM 
  • If you know of anyone else in the community who would be willing to help us (ie grandparents, aunties/uncles, neighbours older teenage kids etc) that would be awesome – the more the merrier! 

 

AFRICAN FEAST 

  • If you would like to assist with making delicious African food for our African Feast stall, please get in touch with Marian Nadra on 0421 494 765 who is coordinating the stall.   

 

BAKE SALE – DONATE HOME BAKED ITEMS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FPS! 

 

Are you interested in supporting the school fundraising efforts? Are you good in the kitchen? How about baking a plate of goods to be sold at the Fete’s Bake Stall?

Pop by the office to collect your essential bake pack and important instructions. All items to be dropped at the bake stall on Fete day between 10am and midday.

For all those who are not bakers – swing by the stall and buy a delicious treat instead!

JEWELLERY AND CRAFT STALL ! 

  • If anyone can spare an hour or two before the fete to make a few more items for our jewellery and craft stall, please let Ev know (evelyntadros@gmail.com or 0402 137 182. 
  • If anyone has any jewellery or craft that they would like to add to the store, please just bring it on the fete day and add it to the store before 12pm. 

 

SECOND HAND GOODS STALL ! 

  • If you have good quality second hand goods to donate please get in touch with Tania Lewis either via email: tania.lewis@rmit.edu.au or sms: 0433 473 720
    Goods the stall will be selling include:
    • Crockery and ceramics (no chips or cracks please)
    • Adults’ clothes and shoes in good condition (please make sure clothes are washed)
    • Children’s toys (clean and in good condition)
    • Other good quality miscellaneous items (that are small and manageable!)
       FPS SILENT AUCTION CLOSING 8:00PM 22 October 2023

  • The FPS Silent Auction bidding has already begun and there are so many incredible prizes up for grabs! 
  • A few recent items that have been added include:
  • Priceless, exclusive, one of a kind, FPS Student Artwork. This artwork has been made with the help of ALL foundation to grade 6 FPS students, thanks to the fabulous art teacher Leah Mariani!
  • A beautiful 2 night retreat (mid-week) set on a three acre native garden at The Cottage at Fallow in Heathcote 
  • Bronte Quilt Cover Set from Linen House valued at over $300

  • A big thank you to all the local businesses and people who generously donated to our fete, to everyone who helped to source all the items and particular shout out to Sally and Matt Armstrong and Marine Guillou for coordinating it all! 

 

FACEPAINTING

 

We are excited to have two professional facepainters on the day available to paint kids’ faces! 

We are offering our FPS families a discounted price of $5 per Facepaint if you pre-book ($6 on the day)! 

All you have to do is just head to the School Office, write your name next  to a time slot and pre-pay.   

 

SPREAD THE WORD

 

We would love for as many people to enjoy the fete as possible so if you could please let your colleagues, families and friends know, that would be wonderful! 

 

If you know anyone who could publicise the fete in a newsletter or on their signage board or to any community groups, organisations, childcare centres or other schools, there are hard copy posters and flyers available in the office and an electronic version of the poster can be downloaded here.  

 

If anyone is able to drop some flyers to our neighbours within the next week, please get in touch. 

 

FPS FETE MEETING 

 

Our last FPS fete meeting will take place on Friday 13 October at 3:45 in the foundation rooms.  If you would like to join to find out more about how you can help in the last week, please feel free to join us!
