From the Leadership Team

Dear families,

Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed the school holidays and the students are ready for an action-packed term. Please take a moment to look at the term 4 calendar and add the upcoming events to your personal calendars.

New play area complete

In November 2022, we held our first ever Colour Run Fundraiser. As a school, we raised an amazing $36,208! With the costs of running the event removed, this left an impressive $29,313 to spend on a new play area torevitalise the space between the 3 and 4 block.

Our consultation process commenced in February 2023. The Leadership team invited all members of our school community to contribute to designing the new play area by voting for their favourite painted games. The survey responses were shared with the external company (Edu Marking) and an on-site evaluation conducted soon after.

In the October school holidays, the job was complete! It was great to see the students trying out the games for the very first time in week 1 of term 4. A big thank you to our community for raising the funds for these games. We are sure they will be enjoyed for years to come.

Nature play area complete!

The nature play area is finally ready for students to enjoy. To alleviate congestion and ultimately ensure the safety of our students, a timetable has been created to allow students to experience the playground for the first time one year level at a time.

We look forward to sharing more regarding this exciting development shortly.

Book Club

The Resource Centre team wish to advise that they will not be accepting any Book Club orders this term. A book stall will be set up at Family Fun Night on Friday, 17 November which we welcome you to support.

From Darren Stevenson - 2024-2029 GPS Principal

Dear Greenwith Primary School Community,

My name is Darren Stevenson, and I am very excited to introduce myself to you and am eagerly looking forward to beginning my time with the Greenwith Primary School community at the beginning of the 2024 school year as Principal.

I have been a teacher for twenty-five years and a principal for almost fourteen of those years, both in the independent and public school systems. My most recent role has been as Principal of Blair Athol North B-6 School (BANB6) for the past four years.

I have lived with my family in the Tea Tree Gully area for the past twenty-four years and I’m pretty confident we will never leave! We love living in this beautiful part of the world and I am genuinely excited about being able to work in my local community from next year; something I have never been able to do until now. I have a beautiful wife, Natalie and three wonderful children: Chloe (19), Mitchell (16) and Zara (11). My wife owns a business in our local area, our children have all attended schools in this local area, and we have also been heavily involved in local sport and other community activities. We are passionate about our local community and love being a part of it.

I am also passionate about fostering, nurturing and building school community and culture. Children spend so much of their time at primary school and parents and other family members are also crucial elements of a school community and have huge investment in their children’s happiness and success. I believe that the Greenwith Primary School community is a very strong and close knit one and I’m very excited at the prospect of being able to join you all next year.

I will be visiting the school on October 31 to meet children, staff and as many community members as I can. I am looking forward to this initial visit and beginning to get to know the school community.

Kind Regards

Darren Stevenson
