St Bede's Maths Day

Dear Parents/Carers,

St Bede’s Primary school will be holding a ‘Family Maths Day’ on Friday the 13th of October.

We will be sparking your child’s interest in how maths is used in everyday life by asking them to dress up as  ‘What I Want To Be When I Grow Up (my career uses Maths!)’

The possibilities are endless- think builder, engineer, musician, hairdresser, chef, vet etc.

Our day will commence at 9am with a presentation for the parents  from Ross Kirwan, the schools learning consultant in Mathematics from Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. The presentation will focus on how you can engage and assist your child at home with their Maths learning, as well as information regarding how mathematics is taught in schools.

Following the presentation, parents will have the opportunity to learn from their child/children in their classroom, by completing some activities and games together. Parents will also be able to take home activities and resources to further consolidate their child’s learning.

The day aims to emphasise that maths is everywhere and used each day.

Please return the form below to RSVP if you will be attending.

Looking forward to the day.

Kind Regards

Rosalie Silvers
