Visual Arts

Here is a snapshot to celebrate the fun filled learning and artmaking students have participated in on the Springvale Campus.

FLC students have experimented with painting and textile materials to create expressive artworks. They explored linear marks, textured rubbings, and used a variety of painting tools to mix and create secondary colours. Students altered fabrics by fraying, pulling threads, and applying colour with fabric markers, and used coloured shapes and textile elements to construct imaginative collages.

JLC students explored the elements of line, shape, and colour to create etched drawings inspired by Paul Klee’s painting The Goldfish. They also produced imaginative collages and paintings influenced by the styles of Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky. Currently, they are developing skills in using textile materials to create artworks.

MLC students explored tonal blending and wet-on-wet techniques to create landscapes inspired by Australian artist Fred Williams. They also used collage techniques to arrange organic and geometric shapes into puzzle-like compositions and experimented with weaving looms to produce textile art.

SLC students have used hatching techniques to create three-dimensional tonal still life drawings. They created collages inspired by the art elements and processes viewed in Rikka Fransila’s work and explored image transfer techniques to design artistic compositions, enhancing them with blended watercolour effects.

Our three SLC Art Captains Hy Ly, Leaksmy Meas and Ro Hay Nar Osman have also been doing a fantastic job of announcing Visual Arts awards at assemblies and assisting with art room organisation.
