As always, we love catching up with news from our former Collegians.
Next Monday, we welcome back our Mazenod Old Collegian, Keegan Fernandes, (Class of 2019). Keegan is a Physiotherapist, who works for the Narre Warren Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic.
On this date, Mazenod College will be hosting a Professional Day for School Nurses, and Keegan will provide them with a brief workshop about strapping sports injuries. When I approached Keegan about his willingness to be involved in the day, he responded with both enthusiasm and sheer excitement about returning to Mazenod.
We are always keen to promote our Old Collegians and their professions, businesses and trades. Please feel free to contact us at Mazenod College. We will include these in our Mazenod College Newsletter, The Mazenod Gazette, as well as on our Alumnly Website and on our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Association Facebook page.
Only last week, Fr Jerald Mariadas, the Parish Priest of St Jude’s, Scoresby, and St Simon’s, Rowville, approached us about encouraging our students and young adults to attend their weekly Youth Mass on Sunday evenings at 5pm. This Mass is celebrated every Sunday at Simon’s, Rowville, and while it encourages young people to attend, everyone is very welcome.
Similarly, our students, young people, and everyone, is welcome to attend the Youth Mass which is run by the St John Vianney’s Youth Group. This Mass is held at 5.30pm on the first Sunday of each month. Both these Youth Masses provide wonderful opportunities for our young people to draw closer to God, be connected to their Parish Communities, and make friendships. Once again, everyone is welcome to come along to these Masses.
Despite the miserable and extremely wintry weather, so many people braved the cold to attend our former Mazenod College Canonical Administrator and the former Parish Priest of St Leonard’s Glen Waverley, Fr Brendan Dillon’s Mass on the first anniversary of his death. Celebrated by Fr Brendan’s brother, Fr Kevin Dillon, the Mass brought together a Church filled with Parishioners from St Leonard’s, as well as, from the other Parishes where Fr Brendan had provided his Priestly Ministry. The Mass was attended by people from the Racing Industry, including so many friends of both Fathers Brendan and Kevin. I was absolutely amazed by the number of people present who had a connection with Mazenod College. These included so many parents of students whom I had taught in the past. Therefore, after the Mass, the gathering in “The Yarn” at St Leonard’s provided great laughs, reminiscences, and a great occasion to catch up with everyone’s memories and current news.
We encourage our Mazenod Old Collegians to sign up and join our alumni digital platform. Please download the Alumnly app and register for a FREE account today.
