Sport Update

SSV State Cross Country

Congratulations to Grace C and Harrison N who have qualified to the SSV State Championships which will be held on Thursday the 24th of July at Yarra Valley Racing Club.

Inter School Sport Finals

As per Shane's note - last Friday, our AFL 9s, Netball, and Tee Ball Girls teams competed in the Ivanhoe District Interschool Sport Finals. All students had a fantastic day, giving their best and displaying great determination and teamwork. Congratulations to all students who participated in Interschool Sport throughout Term 2! A special mention goes to the Mixed ‘B’ Netball Team, who were crowned champions and the AFL 9s Boys Team who claimed the AFL ‘A’ Championship title, finishing the competition undefeated. Both teams showed outstanding sportspersonship and strong team spirit. The AFL 9s team will go on to compete at the Division AFL Championships on July 22nd. We wish them the best of luck!

Term 3 Sport

Due to Term 3 being a shorter term with several interruptions, the IDSSA has revised the format for Interschool Sport to maximise student participation. This term, all teams will play multiple matches each week at centralised venues over 6 weeks, allowing for more game time within the limited schedule. Please note that there will be an increase in cost for sport this term, as buses will be required for transport to and from the venues. We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to provide students with the best possible sporting experiences.

Athletics Carnivals for Term 3

In Term 3, we will have both our Junior (Prep-Year 2) and Senior (Year 3-Year 6) Athletics Carnivals.

The dates for these are as follows:

Junior Athletics Carnival

Venue: Alphington Park

Date: Tuesday the 12th of August

Time: 11:30am-1:30pm

Senior Athletics Carnival

Venue: Harriers/Collingwood Athletics Track (George Knott Athletic Field Heidelberg Road, Clifton Hill)

Date: Thursday the 7th of August

Time: 9:30-2:30pm

We need volunteers for the day. Community engagement is vital for the running of our 2024 APS Athletics Carnival, and we greatly appreciate the support we’ve received for past events.

If you can help on the day, please see or email me (Natalie Ognenis -natalie.ognenis@education.vic.gov.au) no later than Wednesday the 30th of July.
