From our Year Three/Four Classrooms

In Term 2, our grade 3/4 classes have been learning all about Australia and our neighbours, comparing some of our similarities and differences, given students a chance to explore all the amazing things that Australia and our neighbours have to offer!

We have explored the climate, environments and activities of popular tourist landmarks such as the Red Centre, The Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, Indonesia just to name a few. Through the combination of teaching, researching and hands on learning, students have been able to learn so much about these amazing places.

We have done many fun, exciting and creative pieces of work in relation to these places such as posters, brochures, postcards and collages, bringing our learning to life! Please see below to see a handful of some of the excellent work done by the 3/4 unit in term 2! 

These are some great posters of the Great Barrier Reef done by students in grades 3/4 where students learned many exciting things about the reef, such as its tropical climate, an environment which boasts over 400 species of coral as well as learning the fun activities to do there such as swimming with sharks!

We learned a lot about the Red Centre and its relevance to Australia. We learned that it is so isolated compared to the rest of the country as it is located in the hot, dry Northern Territory. Students also researched about the native animals there such as lizards, as well as fun activities people can do there, such as going on a hot air balloon ride!

The grade 3/4 class made our own collages of Australia's very own Daintree Rainforest. We went around our school looking for objects that looked like what we might find if we were to actually visit the rainforest, as well as other bits of arts and craft that we had around the classroom and transformed them into these stunning looking collages, showing just how creative our students are!

Our students also designed their very own postcards that they were going to pretend to send back to a family member or friends, while they were visiting Indonesia. The 3/4s had a wonderful time writing these, and an even better time designing the front of their postcards. Look how good some of the volcanoes look!
