ANOTHER TERM DOWN

Hello everyone, I can’t believe we have a week left of term two before ending an entire semester. WOW…it has been such a privilege being Principal of Meadows P.S. for two terms. Meeting so many of you and getting to know students has definitely been a highlight. I am very pleased to announce that I will continue to be Acting Principal at MPS in term three also and look forward to staying on this wonderful learning journey together. Please note end of term is Friday 4th July and the school day ends at 2:30pm. Please make the most of your time with your children, family and friends, making wonderful memories together over the break. I look forward to hearing all about people’s adventures.

NSEY ANNUAL REPORT

Four more kindergartens underwent Assessment and Rating against the National Quality Standard during 2024.  Meadows Primary School Kindergarten received a rating of, ‘Exceeding’ overall and in all seven Quality Areas.

We are so proud of our very own Meadows Kindergarten team after receiving their ‘Exceeding’ rating. This is clearly a wonderful achievement from the Meadows Kindergarten as it reflects the high quality learning provided at our early learning services. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated team caring for our children and preparing them for primary school. THANK YOU and WELL DONE!

The Parent Opinion Survey provided some rich data, and the feedback was incredibly positive. Below is a snapshot the data. 

STAFFING UPDATE...

As we navigate our way through a time of change and growth, I want to share some important staffing updates. We bid farewell to some valued staff, thanking them for their wonderful contributions to our school, and warmly welcome new talent onboard. 

Mrs Mariam Allouche started her family leave in week 8 of this term. For the remainder of the term, she was replaced by Paige Goodwin who stepped in to cover until the end of this term. She has been doing an amazing job teaching 5/6C and we are grateful. Thank You. Ms Raquel Biggar will be teaching class 5/6C for the remainder of this year. Ms Raquel is an experienced teacher who has taught abroad and interstate. She comes to us with many skills and vast knowledge. She will add great value to our school, and we welcome Ms Racquel to Meadows PS.

I am sad to report that Ms Olivia Bottomley will also be leaving at the end of term two. Ms Olivia has accepted an ongoing position at a Catholic school where she was previously employed at before coming to Meadows P.S. We wish her all the best and thank Ms Olivia for her contributions to our school community. Beginning term three we welcome Mr Rob Syme to 5/6D who comes to us with vast experiences leading learning communities and in curriculum, particularly maths. Mr Syme strives to inspire students and teachers to achieve their maximum potential. We welcome him to MPS. He will also be our new Learning Specialist with a math portfolio. His extensive knowledge and experience in leading improvement changes in maths will benefit Meadows P.S. 

Ms Mellita Farmer has made the decision to resign from her current position here at Meadows P.S. and take some time to focus on her wellbeing and beautiful family. Ms Mellita Farmer has made a positive impact to our school community over the years, and her commitment was second to none. We wish you all the best with all your future endeavours and Thank You.

Ms Rebecca Bladen will be taking Leave Without Pay for the remainder of the 2025 school year to pursue some different work opportunities and prioritise her wellbeing and spend some more quality time with her young family. We wish Ms Rebecca Bladen good health and happy times making memories with her family. Thank you for all your efforts Ms Rebecca. With Ms Bladen and Ms Farmer both not returning, the decision to leave the 3/4 classrooms as they are for the remainder of the year is to ensure the students have stability and remain settled. Familiarity and routine are vital for students to thrive. We thank our community for their understanding and our students for their flexibility and resilience.  

Ms Olivia Edwards has accepted an ongoing position at Bannum Warrik P.S. beginning term three of 2025. Ms Olivia has been with us for 6 years and looking forward to experiencing new opportunities and embracing new learnings in different settings. We wish her well and thank her for all her efforts and contributions. Replacing Ms Olivia Edwards will be Ms Bianca Cerra. She is coming to us from the Whittlesea network and has a great deal of knowledge and skills as a middle leader. We are looking forward to her sharing her experiences and joining our MPS team.

Ms Kate Neilson has also accepted an ongoing position in the Catholic sector and at Mackillop Specialist School, which is also closer to her home. We sincerely thank Ms Kate for her dedication and valuable contributions over the past five years at Meadows primary school. We wish her all the best as she embarks on this new chapter and seeks new experiences in different settings. Replacing Ms Kate is Ms Katrina Maskell who comes to us with extensive knowledge and experience in curriculum, particularly literacy. She also has a background in wellbeing. Ms Katrina Maskell will be teaching in 2A and is the new Learning Specialist with a literacy portfolio. We welcome Ms Katrina, and the leadership team look forward to working closely with her in embedding evidence informed literacy practices at Meadows primary school. 

Christine Mathieson will not be returning to MPS after accepting a school transfer and resigning from her position here at the school. I am very pleased to announce that Ms Doreen Slater has been granted an ongoing position at Meadows P.S. and will be staying with us, replacing Christine at front office. Congratulations Ms Doreen. We love your work and appreciate your commitment to making our families, students and visitors feel welcomed as they pass by the office each day. 

Ms Mariam Dib has also accepted an ongoing PE position at Mickleham S.C. which is a new school, and she is looking forward to the challenge of working in a secondary school. We wish her well in her new setting and thank her for her contributions to the specialist program – PE.  Ms Chloe Turnbull is replacing Ms Dib and will be teaching PE for the remainder of this year. Ms Turnbull comes to us on as part of the Permission To Teach (PTT) program. She is passionate, well organised and 100% committed to providing engaging teaching and learning programs. Welcome to Meadows P.S. Ms Chloe Turnbull.

We are very excited to announce that Joyce Jiang has been appointed to take STEM for the remainder of this year. She comes to us with a science and mathematics background. She is very technologically savvy and excited to embrace the STEM specialist program. We welcome Joyce and look forward to the amazing teaching and learning that will come in STEM. 

Having change in staffing is a positive opportunity for growth and innovation for all involved as it brings fresh perspectives, encourages adaptability, and helps us evolve in a dynamic environment.
