Miss Michelle Hortle
Students in all year levels have been working hard to improve their Auslan skills. Over the past few weeks, we have learned about Deaf History and the immigration of Deaf people to Australia. We learned about important Deaf people, such as Thomas Pattison and F.J. Rose and the Deaf Schools they founded in Sydney and Melbourne. We learned that there are National signs (signs that are used all over Australia) and Southern (Victoria, WA, SA, NT and Tasmania) and Norther Dialects (NSW, Queensland and the ACT).
In the junior classes, we have been practising a special song to perform at our end of term assembly! You might like to practise at home as a family!
