Japanese News Week 10
It’s been a vibrant and engaging Term 2 in Japanese across all year levels!
Foundation students explored colours and shapes through songs, dance, games, and craft activities. They also learned to express their favourite colours in Japanese.
Year 1 and 2 students developed their understanding of months, seasons, and weather. They practised describing how different seasons feel and created a birthday month poster that included all of this new vocabulary.
Year 3 and 4 students focused on expressing their likes and dislikes. As part of their learning, they wrote letters to our sister school in Japan, sharing their interests and asking about the preferences of the Japanese students. They also explored the similarities and differences between school life in Japan and Australia.
Year 5 and 6 students expanded their vocabulary around spare time activities and completed a project showcasing what they enjoy doing in their free time. They also enjoyed reviewing their learning with a fun Kahoot! quiz. In the final weeks of term, students in the Japanese Specialist Elective designed and created their own kyaraben (character bento) based on original ideas—an exciting way to blend creativity, culture, and language!
