EPS Cross Country Trophy
Although already announced at Assembly, earlier this term, this is another congratulations to Brewster for winning the first ever E.P.S. offsite Cross Country event. The final results were:
1st: Brewster - 420 points
2nd: Nicholson - 412 points
3rd: Raleigh - 368 points
4th: Shaftesbury 326 points
Well done again to all our amazing runners who competed and cheered on their Houses on the day. We look forward to another successful event next year!
Congratulations to our Western Metropolitan Region Cross Country Runners!
We are incredibly proud of our students who progressed from the District to Division to REGION Cross Country event (which was held in Week 9 at Keilor). Jack P, Harvey B and Hayden S, all competed with incredible perseverance, endurance, and school spirit. Jack and Harvey placed in the Top 20, which is an incredible feat at this level (one level under the State competition).
Amongst our competitors, Hayden S placed second in his event, which sees him progress to the State level competition. He continues to inspire with his determination in sport, and we would like to include a little more information about Hayden, as he competes as a para-athlete—a category in para sport that ensures children with disabilities are recognised fairly in competition. Hayden has a physical disability affecting both his legs and ankles, and runs the same course as his peers. However, his performance is assessed within his official classification from Athletics Australia, ensuring a level playing field against athletes with similar impairments and outlines the importance of inclusivity.
Beyond cross country, Hayden has had an extraordinary athletics season—winning four gold medals and one silver at the 2025 State Track & Field Championships—and trains with Australian Paralympic champion Richard Colman, with big dreams for the future.
Congratulations again to Jack P, Harvey B, and Hayden on their achievements—we wish all three boys the very best in their future long distance running. We look forward to seeing your achievements in our upcoming Athletics Carnival in Term 3.
(For those interested in learning more about the para sport pathway, please feel free to contact Sam Dowling for further information).
Essendon Footy players visit the Preps
At the beginning of the month, a small group of Prep students were lucky enough to have a quick visit from some players from the Essendon Football Club during their P.E. class. To promote a sense of sport in the community, AFL Vic had reached out with a small window of time for the players to come and visit, and Prep C were very lucky to have had their sports session during this time. The students got to meet Jayden Laverde, Matt Guelfi and Liam McMahon, and practised kicking, handballing and marking with the players. At the end of the session, students were able to ask questions about what it takes to be a footy player (and may have entertainingly asked, "Which footy team do you go for?"). It was a great experience enjoyed by all, and AFL Vic are looking into setting up some after school footy clinics in Term 3. Stay tuned!
