Literacy
Over the past few weeks in Literacy, students have been exploring the theme of migration through powerful storytelling. We have been learning to craft our own migration narratives by drawing on personal experiences, historical events and creative thinking. Students have discussed a variety of reasons as to why people migrate. These can include conflict, economic opportunities, family ties, education and improved living standards.
Vivid, descriptive language has been used to bring our characters and their journeys to life. In writing these stories, the cohort have not only refined their storytelling skills but also developed a deeper understanding of the difficulties that some people face in life. Teachers are incredibly proud of the insight, creativity and care reflected in the students' work.

Numeracy
In Numeracy, the 5/6 students have been extremely successful in Probability. We have been learning about news stories that use probability and turning the frequency, from fractions, to decimals and percentages. Then we were working on chance problems like, flipping a coin, spinning a spinner and rolling a dice. We also took many tests to strengthen our knowledge about probability.
In Essential Assessment, my numeracy helps to prepare students for upcoming tests. We sometimes play Kahoot, an educational game designed to help students learn about subjects such as maths. Thank you to all the teachers that prepared all of these fun and educational lessons this term. This wraps up the term for numeracy.

Special Events
In special events, the grade 5/6s have been deciding what specialist classes they want to do for electives. Electives are classes that we can do with different things, like making a bento box in Japanese or in science dissecting a sheep's heart. They will be doing two specialist elective classes for 3 weeks and will be switching to complete their other elective. Grade 6 students were given first priority, as this is their final year at EPS, while Grade 5s still have another year to explore electives. Electives are a really fun way to learn more things that we enjoy and help make new friends. Furthermore, electives also prepare us for high school.

Physical Education
During our P.E. lessons, we have been focusing on learning the fundamentals of soccer. Some important techniques we’ve been practicing include passing, juggling and kicking the ball with power and accuracy. We also had fun doing warm up games like block soccer and much more. One of the best parts was collaborating with our peers and friends playing intense and friendly matches together, where we could show off our amazing skills while having a good time with our peers. The overall experience was entertaining and pleasant.
