Principal's Post

Dear Families,
Teachers have been working many additional hours over the past few weeks collating assessments, preparing and writing your children's end of semester reports. It takes at least an hour per student per report which may sound reasonable per child but when you have a class of 25 students that's many additional hours on weeknights and weekends. Teachers do not acquire Time In Lieu for report writing. I write about this for two reasons. Firstly to express my gratitude to the staff we have here who support me and embrace our "St James way of doing things" and secondly to remind you of the extra time and commitment our staff put in for the sake of your children, our students.
Our Year 5/6 students participated in their Winter Gala Interschool Sports Day today. Whilst the main aim is to provide students with an opportunity to practice their skills learned in a competitive environment while representing the school, having fun is just as important. Some teams progressed onto the next stage and will compete against other district winners.
Thank you to the parents, teachers and Mrs Wall for organising the day and supporting the students. Here are some photos of their day:
Concert Production Update
Our students have been hard at work singing, twirling, dancing and prancing as they learn and rehearse their various performances for our whole school original production of "A World for Everyone: The Journey of a Magic Suitcase". Step inside a magical suitcase and travel across continents in this vibrant, original production celebrating inclusion, diversity, and harmony.
With music, dance, colour, and plenty of fun – this is a journey you won’t want to miss!
We have a dress rehearsal on Monday 4 August with the whole school rehearsal at the venue on Monday 11 August. This will be followed by the actual performance on the evenings of Monday 11 August and Tuesday 12 August.
Ticket sales will be released on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 July - the first attendance day for students next term.
Monday Assembly, Friday Prayer Service and Student Awards
All parents and extended family members are always welcome at our Monday morning outdoor whole school assembly where our Year Six Wellbeing Leaders hand out our 'value of the term' awards.
All parents and extended family members are also always welcome at our Friday Prayer Services where we hand out our Student of the Week Awards and Birthday Certificates. These Prayer Services commence at 2.30pm and awards are usually handed out at 2.50 - 3.00pm.
We also hand out various awards at spontaneous times depending on a number of factors including interruptions to the usual flow of the week and the timeliness of the acknowledgement.
