P/1
The Foundation students planted a snow pea in paper towel and have watched the seed develop and grow. Last week they planted the seedling into soil to take home. The students have been reporting their seed growth at home to me.
This week they finished off their mini animals to take home and next week we are going to finish off the term with playing mini beast games and looking at different animals.
1/2s
The 1/2 class have looked at different materials and what makes that material unique. They have looked at wood, paper, plastic and how these things can change. The students are continuing to design and make their sculpture.
ART
Students have been busy learning all about some famous artists who loved colour, shapes and line to create abstract art.
Dutch artist Piet Mondrian used primary colours to create his artworks, and we were inspired to create our own. Check out the Year 3/4's Mondrian Animals on display in the gallery.
Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky would hear music when he painted and saw colours and shapes when he listened to music! Students in P-2 printed shapes with lids and then painted these with watercolour. Lots of fun!
Kandinsky is also famous for his Concentric Circles, and the Prep to 4 students were inspired to do their own.
Year 3-6 students spent an enjoyable morning learning how to draw characters from author and illustrator Leigh Hobbs, via an online NGV event. We drew Old Tom, Mr Chicken, and 3 of our own characters. Have a look at our favourites!
