P1 Class Snapshot

During Term 2, the P/1 students have been learning all about farms. We have learnt that farms and farmers are important. Farmers grow crops and raise animals. Without farms and farmers, we would not have any food to eat. Female chickens are called hens and males are called roosters. Pigs roll in mud to keep cool in the hot weather. Otherwise they are very clean animals. The crops are harvested in late summer and Autumn.

We have learnt new words that are specific to our learning about farms, such as ripe, trough, grazing, valuable, produce and misused.

We had discussions about what we ate for breakfast or dinner. Our discussion prompted us to think about the ingredients used to make the food we had eaten. We discovered that without farms and farmers, we would not have any food to eat.
