From the Principal

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week as we now start to wrap up Term 2. It has been a wonderful Term, full of learning and fun. I thank the teachers for their hard work on preparing PLP's and Reports for families. I am planning to release Reports to families on Thursday, 3rd of July. There will be opportunities for families to discuss their child's report or any other issues at our Term 3, Parent and Teacher Interviews. The date for these interviews are in the "Important Dates and Upcoming Events" tab.

A big thank you to the families who supported our school by running the Bunnings BBQ fundraiser. The lead up to these sort of events can sometimes be crazy, but it was wonderful watching the group band together for a common purpose. Big thanks to the Parents and Friends Committee members and other school families who gave up their time to support our school. We raised over $2000 for our school, some of this money will go towards new basketball backboards and the rest will be going towards a very exciting project which will be shared in coming weeks.

The Parents and Friends Committee have already done a mountain of work in 2025, and to check out more of what has been accomplished, and what is yet to come, please check out the Parents and Friends tab. There is some very exciting news, just around the corner.

I have also started planning for 2026 (I know, how scary!!). I announced to the SAC (School Advisory Council) last week the likelihood of the school moving from five classes to six classes. My goal is to keep class sizes small, the main purpose of this is of course for academic reasons, but it also allows the school to continue to grow and new enrolments to come in. This is a fantastic outcome for our school, to move from four classes to six classes in two years is a real testament to the hard work that has gone in over the past four or five years.

You may have seen on our socials that Jack King (Jacob and Caleb's dad) has done some amazing work on our glass outside the Seniors rooms upstairs. This glass frosting not only looks fantastic it now allows us to start exploring with the idea of having three classes upstairs in 2026. Just a plug for Jack's business, he owns and operates Catalyst Signs.

Caritas Free Dress Day:

To celebrate the wonderful work in raising funds for Project Compassion during Lent, we will be holding a whole school free dress day on Friday (4th of July). Normally we ask for a gold coin donation on free dress days, this is not the case next week.

Sacrament of Reconciliation:

Next Monday afternoon we have a large group of students who will be participating in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We keep them in our thoughts and prayers as they undertake this important step in their faith journey.

St Thomas More Primary School Learning Expo - Save the Date:

A note to Year 5/6 families (as per Operoo email):

Dear families in Year 5/6,

I am writing to you to let you know that from the start of Term 3, the 5/6 class will be moving classroom to a room downstairs. I am happy to have a conversation with any parent who has any concerns about this change. The children will be informed of this change tomorrow. You are welcome to begin discussing the changes with them this evening. Their new classroom will be the old Performing Arts Room for the remainder of the 2025 school year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Thank you for your support.

Congratulations to our Regional Runners!

I want to acknowledge the three runners that represented our school at the Regional Cross Country event a couple of weeks ago. Issy, Lydia and Grayson participated at the Yarra Valley Racecourse. All three once again tried their best and represented our school with great pride. We are all so proud of you for your efforts, to get through to the Regional Carnival is a wonderful achievement.

Accessing School Reports:

As mentioned in previous Newsletters the school reports will be distributed next Thursday. I have attached two Quick Reference Guides for parents to use to help them access the portal to get the reports. If you have any issues, please just email me and I can provide a PDF copy.

Just a note for parents that Term 2 will finish next Friday, 4th of July @ 3:10pm. Term 3 will commence on Monday, 21st of July.
