Eleven years of support for Pipeline Marathon
👓 1 minute read
Rain, mud and slippery tracks couldn't dampen the community spirit at this year's Pipeline Marathon, where hundreds of runners, volunteers and supporters came together for one of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's favourite annual events.
While competitors tackled the challenging conditions, another team was hard at work behind the scenes. Volunteers from FN Kalgoorlie (WA) staffed one of the event's aid stations, serving water and encouragement to runners throughout the day.
This year's marathon marked the agency's eleventh consecutive year volunteering at the event—a tradition that has become as much a part of race day as the starting line itself.
From first-time entrants to seasoned marathon runners, every participant relied on the network of volunteers positioned along the course to help them keep going.
"Events like the Pipeline Marathon show what makes our community special," the team said. "Everyone plays a part, whether they're running, volunteering or cheering from the sidelines."
Despite the wet weather turning parts of the course into a sea of mud, the atmosphere remained upbeat, with volunteers, organisers and competitors determined not to let the conditions spoil the day.
The Pipeline Marathon continues to be one of the Goldfields' best-loved community events, bringing together local businesses, sporting groups and volunteers in support of health, fitness and community connection.
For the FN Kalgoorlie team, the reward isn't crossing the finish line—it's helping hundreds of others reach theirs.
