Model UN in the French Language

On Monday, 20 July the Year 12 French class had the opportunity to participate in the Model UN conducted entirely in French.  It was an incredible day, where we were able to put the oral skills that we have been honing into practice by sharing and presenting in French, representing our countries, Denmark and Egypt.

We presented ideas on the importance of AI in our technological world and how it can encroach on human rights, whilst simultaneously possessing the ability to enhance our society.

Overall, the Year 12 French cohort had an amazing time being able to practice our French, and it was encouraging to see how much our speaking skills have progressed throughout the year.  The day served as a wonderful opportunity to speak French with other school students and build our confidence for the upcoming oral exam in October.                                  - Eloise R

Revolutions

On Friday, 19 July, the VCE History: Revolutions class enjoyed a Chinese cultural immersion excursion to Melbourne's Chinatown, exploring the enduring influence of Chinese culture and history in our city while enriching their studies.

Senior History students visited significant sites in Chinatown, including the statue of Sun Yat-sen.  This was a particular highlight, bringing the classroom discussion to life, as Sun Yat-sen is a key figure in the current History course and is widely regarded as the "Father of Modern China."

The excursion concluded with a shared lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, giving students the opportunity to experience another aspect of Chinese culture while strengthening the strong sense of camaraderie within the class.  Sharing a meal together complemented their historical studies, as to share the ‘iron rice bowl’’ together was the famous social contract of work and food between the CCP and the Chinese people under Chairman Mao.  Therefore, this meal provided a meaningful cultural experience that deepened their appreciation of the people, traditions and history they have been exploring throughout the year.
