It’s hard to believe we have reached the mid-term point already! Students have been busy and continue to make great progress across all areas of learning.

Literacy

In literacy, we have wrapped up our narrative unit where we studied the work of Kirli Saunders. Students have been creating sensory poems using imagery and figurative language and are now putting the finishing touches on their narrative stories, which they are excited to share during Monday’s Book Week celebration. As part of our targeted instruction, we have also been working on recognising and correcting run-on sentences in our writing.

Mathematics

In Maths, our targeted focus has has been developing multiplicative thinking. Stage 2 students have been multiplying 2- or more-digit numbers by a 1-digit number, while Stage 3 students have been working with 2- and 3-digit numbers multiplied by 2-digit numbers. We have also completed our Angles unit, with Stage 2 students classifying angles and Stage 3 learning how to calculate unknown angles.
