Principal's Report

As we continue through the term, our EVOLVE cyber safety sessions have now commenced across classrooms. These sessions focus on building students’ understanding of safe, responsible and respectful online behaviour. Students are learning about digital footprints, appropriate online communication, privacy, managing risk and how to seek help if something does not feel right. In an increasingly connected world, it is essential that we equip our children with the knowledge and strategies to navigate online spaces confidently and safely. The discussions taking place have been thoughtful and age-appropriate, reinforcing our shared commitment to student wellbeing both offline and online.
On Monday at 9:00am, during our whole school assembly, we will celebrate an important milestone for our senior students. Our 2026 Year 6 Leadership Team, including all School Captains and House Captains, will officially receive their badges. Families are warmly invited to attend and share in this proud moment as we recognise the responsibility, persistence and leadership of these students.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN testing will commence on Wednesday the 11th of March for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. This national assessment provides valuable insights into students’ progress in literacy and numeracy.
On the first day of testing, students will complete the Writing assessment, where they will produce either a persuasive or narrative piece. Year 3 students will complete this on paper, while Year 5 students will undertake the task online.
Following the Writing assessment, students will complete tests in Reading, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy, all of which will be conducted online. The NAPLAN testing window will close on 23rd March.
NAPLAN is the only national assessment that all Australian students undertake. It measures essential skills in reading, writing, and numeracy, helping parents and teachers understand how students are progressing against national proficiency standards. While it is just one part of a school’s broader assessment and reporting process, NAPLAN results can provide valuable insights for teachers, schools, and education authorities to support student learning.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please feel free to reach out to the school.
Child Safety at School Events
To support the safety and privacy of all students, we would like to remind families of our expectations regarding photography and recording at school events.
While we love seeing families attend assemblies and celebrations, school events such as assemblies cannot be recorded. This includes video recording on phones or other devices. In addition, families may only take photographs of their own child. We ask that no images of other children are captured or shared.
These expectations are in place to uphold our Child Safety obligations and to protect the privacy of students whose families have chosen not to provide consent for photography or online publication. We appreciate that these moments are special and that families are proud of their children. However, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for every student must remain our priority.
Thank you for your understanding and for partnering with us to ensure RGLPS remains a safe community for all.
