Indonesian

This term in Indonesian we will be learning all about the language and culture of Indonesia.

Our Foundation students will begin to learn about Indonesia as a country. They will learn about the flag, what language is spoken and start to use the word saya for 'I/me' and Ibu for 'Mrs'. Students will learn lots of songs and games that include Indonesian words.

Our Junior Learning Community students will learn about school life in Indonesia. They will look at a typical school day for Indonesian children and explore similarities and differences with their own lives. Students will learn about Indonesian words for classroom actions, such as sit down, stand up, open your book, etc.

The Middle Learning Community will be learning all about Indonesian words that are used in the classroom. This includes vocabulary for classroom items (such as pencil, chair and clock) as well as vocabulary for instruction words (such as please raise your hand and please line up). Students will also learn about daily life at school in Indonesia.

Our Senior Learning Community students are starting a unit called Tentang Saya, meaning "All About Me". Students will learn how to introduce themselves, how to describe their age and how to state their likes and dislikes. Some of this unit will be new content, and some will build on prior knowledge.

We are looking forward to a fun and challenging term in Indonesian classes! If you have any questions about the program, please do not hesitate to contact me at: abrennan@smjhorsham.catholic.edu.au

Have a wonderful weekend.
