Welcome Back

A huge welcome to all families to the 2026 school year. Last week, we welcomed all students back on Thursday including our 32 Foundation students. We also have many new students starting with us across the school. Our enrolment numbers for this year currently stand at 252 students which will be across 12 classrooms.

Last week students spent their time reviewing and understanding the routines and expectations that will be used to support their learning across the year. We rely on so many routines at Teesdale to ensure learning environments are calm, orderly and safe. It’s important therefore at the start of the year that we dedicate time to explaining, practicing and mastering these from Foundation to year 6. At home you can support the routines we have at school with your own routines around sleep, limiting screen time and providing healthy lunchbox options.

Lots going on around the school!

For the last 6 months there’s been a lot happening across the school, and a little more to come. The Early Learning Centre next door is now in operation and other than a few parts of the yard needing some extra time for grass to grow and take, we have our full site back. Students have commenced using the synthetic soccer pitch at break times but will need to be patient with the oval as it continues to grow. I don’t want to let students stampede on this too early and return to a dry dustbowl like we previously had. The oval will continue to be irrigated over the next few weeks and we will review it’s use and have students play on there as soon as we know the grass is strong enough to combat daily traffic.

Over the coming weeks builders will finish renovations of the toilet block, and we have some office pods being delivered which will give us the flexibility in space we need for teachers planning, meetings such as Student Support Groups and also supporting the regular allied health workers that visit and provide support to students.

It’s exciting to have so many improvements happening across the school to make Teesdale Primary such a wonderful environment for students to learn in.

Contributions Count!

One of the reasons we are able to engage in improvements around the school is because of the support of families via financial contributions. Last year our Parents Club did a terrific job fundraising and we also greatly appreciate the support we receive from families with voluntary contributions. At the end of last year information was sent out regarding contributions for 2026 and many families have already supported the school by paying these which is greatly appreciated. These are still available to be paid via BPay. If you haven’t had the chance to do this year and need either information regarding contributions re-sent or your BPAY code, please contact the office.

Open Night

Finally, lock next Wednesday February 11th in the calendar from 4:30pm - 6:30pm. This is our beginning of year Open Night. There’ll be games, food trucks and a chance to have a look around some of the changes at the school if you haven’t had the chance to already do so. Classrooms will be open to view and teachers will be available for catchups. Come and have some dinner, say g’day and enjoy the chance to have a check in with your child’s teacher early in the year. Hope to see you all there!

Bye for now.
